Acting President Lee Ju-ho on Friday called for maintaining a watertight readiness posture against North Korea's possible provocations, as he assumed the interim leadership following the resignations of the prime minister and finance minister.

Lee made the remarks as he presided over a National Security Council meeting, a day after former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and former Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok resigned.

Lee said there should be "no lapse" in the fields of diplomacy, security, defense, economy and others, instructing the NSC to "maintain a watertight readiness posture so that North Korea cannot plot any form of provocations."

"It is time for the NSC to redouble its efforts to protect the nation and ensure the public feels not the slightest concern over national security," Lee told the meeting. (Yonhap)
